Blast in Turkey: 18 killed, 45 injured

A large explosion in the Turkish capital Ankara, the Death toll has risen to 18.Ankara governor confirmed. He added that 45 others were wounded.

Local media said Blast occurred in a place where a military vehicle was passing by. The area is close to the Parliament and the Turkish military headquarters.

Social Media plumes of smoke coming from the area of the pictures can be seen.The ruling AK Party spokesman said the explosion a terrorist activity.

Ankara's governor reportedly said that the explosion was caused by a car bomb, while Prime Minister Ahmed Davutoglu said that the cause of the explosion is being investigated.

In recent days there have been several attacks on Turkey. Last week, a suicide bomber killed 10 people in Istanbul said.

Officials say the attackers had links to militant group calling itself the Islamic State.

In a peace march in October last year 99 people were killed in the attack.
