Friday’s long awaited Wikileaks email dump proved what many had suspected all along – there was an internal Democratic Party plot to commit election fraud against Bernie Sanders and hand the nomination to Hillary Clinton on a silver platter.
Another ‘conspiracy theory’ was also proved true, as multiple emails revealed collusion between the DNC and mainstream media, with party officials now on record instructing mainstream media what to do and say.
THE PLOT AGAINST BERNIE SANDERS EXPOSED
In an email from early May, DNC CFO Brad Marshall wrote about a plot to use religion against Sanders. While not naming the Vermont senator directly, it talks about a man of ‘Jewish heritage’ Marshall believes to be an atheist. It makes reference to Kentucky and West Virginia, two states that were holding upcoming primary elections.
“It might may no difference, but for KY and WVA can we get someone to ask his belief. Does he believe in a God. He had skated on saying he has a Jewish heritage. I think I read he is an atheist. This could make several points difference with my peeps. My Southern Baptist peeps would draw a big difference between a Jew and an atheist,” the email says.
“AMEN,” DNC Chief Executive Officer Amy K. Dacey replied.
In an email regarding Sanders out-polling Clinton in Rhode Island, one staffer took a contemptuous tone of Sanders’ supporters, speaking about them more as a nuisance than an arm of the party represented by a candidate with a real shot at the nomination and presidency. “If she outperforms this polling, the Bernie camp will go nuts and allege misconduct,” the staffer writes, “They’ll probably complain regardless, actually.”
Another email shows similarly toxic ‘us and them’ language being directed at Sanders supporters by supposedly neutral party officials. “We have the Sanders folks admitting that they lost fair and square, not because we ‘rigged’ anything,” the email said. “Clinton likely to win the state convention with a slim margin and we’ll send a release with final delegate numbers.”
An email titled ‘Bernie narrative‘ sent by DNC National Press Secretary Mark Paustenbach to Miranda indicates that top officials in the party were desperately trying to find ways to smear Sanders in the media.
“Wondering if there’s a good Bernie narrative for a story, which is that Bernie never ever had his act together, that his campaign was a mess,” Paustenbach wrote in the May 21 message. “Specifically, [Debbie Wasserman Schultz] had to call Bernie directly in order to get the campaign to do things because they’d either ignored or forgotten to something critical.”
“It’s not a DNC conspiracy, it’s because they never had their act together,” Paustenbach suggested.
Wasserman Schultz dismissed the seriousness of the Sanders campaign in a May 21 email, when there were still nine primaries to go and the Sanders campaign was gaining ground.
“This is a silly story,” the chairwoman said. “He isn’t going to be president.”
The leaked emails prove Sanders was right about Wasserman Schultz all along, and justifies his calls for her removal as DNC chair.
In another email, Paustenbach informed her that Sanders campaign manager Jeff Weaver said the candidate should continue to the convention, Wasserman Shultz said: “He is an ASS.”
The chairwoman made her opinion clear about Sanders in a message regarding Sanders’ claims the DNC hadn’t been fair with him:
“Spoken like someone who has never been a member of the Democratic Party and has no understanding of what we do,” she said.
‘MONEY TALKS’ MENTALITY RIFE FROM TOP TO BOTTOM
At the top we have Clinton accepting tens of millions of dollars from foreign dictatorships in return for favors (including arms deals), while at the grassroots level the DNC has donors who believe the Democratic party should purge non-establishment candidates.
An entitled Hillary Clinton supporter left a series of enraged voice mailmessages on DNC staff phones, saying she had donated $300 to Clinton and the party needed to “say no” to Sanders.
COLLUSION WITH THE MEDIA
The clearest example of media collusion came in an email indicating that the DNC was in close contact with news websites on articles related to the Democratic Party – and had details changed, including headlines, when they saw fit. A Real Clear Politics article said that Sanders supporters were causing a lack of unity at the Nevada Democratic Convention.
“This headline needs to be changed,” Wasserman Schultz wrote to Miranda.
“We need to push back… Patrice, what happened, DNC had nothing to do with this, right?” Miranda replied, referring to DNC Director of Party Affairs Patrice Taylor. Taylor responded saying that the article should be changed.
“Walter, please connect with Stewart and get him to push back,” Miranda wrote. The last email on the thread says: “Done. Article has been updated.”
Another email revealed Politico reporter Ken Vogel sent an article discussing the DNC to the DNC before he sent it to his editors. Vogel attached his story in an email titled, “per agreement… any thoughts appreciated,” sent April 30, 2016, to Mark Paustenbach, Deputy Communications Director for the Democratic National Committee.
So much for a free press.
WASSERMAN SCHULTZ ISSUING ORDERS TO MAINSTREAM MEDIA
Further evidence of the DNC’s extensive content control over mainstream media is exposed in an email Wasserman Schultz sent to NBC anchor Chuck Todd with the subject line “Chuck, this must stop,” and set up a meeting for the two to talk about MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” co-host Mika Brzezinski calling on Wasserman Schultz to resign.
Coming just days before the potentially explosive Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, these leaks will reignite controversy over the DNC’s treatment of Sanders as well as the allegations of media collusion and election fraud, three of the most sensitive issue plaguing the Democratic Party, potentially leading to an exodus of disappointed Bernie Sanders supporters from the party that has betrayed them.
